Transport technology integrator and consultancy

We connect transport systems

Digital transformation and systems integration for transport operators and authorities. We audit, advise, plan and build the work, then maintain it or hand it over.

Who we work with

  • Airport Bus Express
  • National Express
  • Autostradale
  • San Diego MTS
  • GoTriangle
  • Tactran
  • Mecatran

Who we help

  • Operators

You run coach, bus or airport transfer services. We start with a review of how you sell tickets and run your systems, then build and run what it recommends, one phase at a time.

    Questions operators ask
  • Transport authorities

You publish timetables and live data for your region. We check and fix your GTFS, NeTEx and SIRI feeds, and design what your real-time screens show.

    Questions authorities ask
  • Vendors and consultancies

You're delivering a transport project and need a specialist for one part of it. We work as your subcontractor, to your plan and your reporting, and under your brand if you need it.

    How we work with partners

Problems we're asked to fix

  • Online travel agents take commission on tickets you could sell direct

We work out what each sales channel costs you, then build the booking storefront to sell direct.

    Commercial and digital review

  • You don't know how your website and booking storefront compare with your competitors'

We compare your website, app and checkout with theirs, screen by screen, and show you where you fall behind and what to fix first.

    Commercial and digital review

  • Booking, payment and live data come from different suppliers and don't share data

We connect the systems and the data between them.

    Systems integration

  • Your timetables are in spreadsheets or PDFs that journey planners can't read

We convert them to GTFS, check the feed and publish it, so your services show up in Google Maps and journey planners.

    Transit data

  • You have live vehicle data but no clear way to show passengers when the next bus is due

We design and build departure screens and live maps from your GTFS-Realtime or SIRI-VM feeds, laid out so passengers can read the next departures at a glance.

    Passenger and staff interfaces

  • AI agents can't find your timetables, availability or fares

We make them usable by AI agents through MCP and A2A, two open standards for connecting agents to services.

    Agent access

What we do

Most work starts with a review. We then build what it recommends, and run it for you or hand it over.

  1. Step 1: Review

    Your digital partner starts here

We look at your sales channels, systems and data, and give you a costed, phased plan.

    Commercial and digital review

    From £2,000

Two days or more, depending on the size of your business, how complex your systems are and how deep you want the review to go.

    • Ticket sales: commission by channel, and a competitor scorecard for your online booking.
    • Real-time information: a UX and information design review of your displays, apps and trip planners, and the live feeds behind them.
    • Timetable and real-time data: GTFS, GTFS-Realtime, NeTEx and SIRI feed checks.
    • Visibility: search, Google and Apple Maps, and AI agents.
    • Systems and suppliers: how your booking, payment, journey planning, real-time and operations systems connect, with ticketing and supplier advice.
    • Business case: a payback period for each next step, and a phased roadmap.
  2. Step 2: Agree a phase

Each phase has its own scope and cost, agreed before it starts.

  3. Step 3: Build

One part of a bigger project starts here

We build the phase: the integrations, data feeds and screens it needs.

    • Systems integration

We connect booking, payment, journey planning, real-time and operations systems from different suppliers, and the data between them.

    • Transit data

We create, convert, check and publish timetable and real-time data: GTFS and GTFS-Realtime first, plus NeTEx and SIRI.

    • Passenger and staff interfaces

Booking flows, trip planners, live maps, websites and operations tools.

    • Transport maps and analysis

We analyse your data, such as ticket sales, ridership and journey times, against your network and the areas it serves, and give you maps, dashboards and clear findings.

    • Agent access

We make timetables, availability, booking and payment usable by AI agents, through MCP, A2A and the agent payment protocols.

This area is still new, and its standards aren't settled yet.

  4. Step 4: Run or hand over

We host, monitor and improve what we build, or hand it over with its documentation.

    Support and running

We host, monitor, fix and improve what we build, and take over systems someone else built.

    Handing over

When we hand a system over, you get its documentation every time. The code comes with it where the project allows it, and we agree that at the start.

What we've built

A booking platform we built and still run for a client, trip planner work we did as a subcontractor, and a timetable tool of our own. We have delivered work in the UK, Italy, Ireland and the US.

Client work

Airport Bus Express

The booking storefront and payments for airport coach transfers in London, Milan and Dublin. We built it and we still run it.

We built
The booking storefront, checkout and payments
It connects
National Express, Mercurio, OpenMove and FreedomPay
We run
The live site, day to day
The Airport Bus Express booking page on a desktop, listing airports in London, Milan and Dublin with fares
The same booking page on a phone

Despite multiple barriers being thrown our way during the project, Bytes Mobility quickly adapted and delivered every time. They flawlessly integrated complex payment systems and multiple APIs. Furthermore, the new design and booking UX are so intuitive, they have significantly helped conversion rates. Highly recommended for any complex web project.

I've worked with Bytes Mobility for many years as a part of GoTriangle. The varied projects and support provided were absolutely perfect. Bytes Mobility helped create a live map application showcasing our regional routes and also helped integrate transit feeds into several aspects of our websites. I couldn't be happier with the support and service provided.

Standards and compliance

The rules our work has to meet for public bodies and transport operators in the UK and the US.

  • Accessibility

We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA on new work and test against it. That is the level UK public sector websites are checked against. It also covers WCAG 2.1 AA, the level the ADA Title II rule sets for US public bodies' websites and apps, and the WCAG 2.0 AA web standard in Section 508.

  • Card payments

Card details go into the payment provider's own hosted fields, so they never reach your servers or ours. That keeps your PCI DSS scope small. The providers we connect, such as FreedomPay, support EMV contactless and EMV 3-D Secure.

  • US federal reporting

Transit agencies that report to the FTA's National Transit Database must publish a GTFS feed for their fixed-route services. We create, check and host those feeds and keep them current. We can also map who your routes serve, area by area, for a Title VI service equity analysis.

How we look after your data

We aren't certified to ISO 27001 yet. We follow its controls where they apply to a team our size, and we agree how personal data is handled under UK and EU GDPR at the start of each project.

  • Each person gets only the access their work needs, with multi-factor sign-in on every admin and cloud account.
  • Passwords and API keys live in a secrets manager, never in code or email.
  • Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and stays in the region we agree with you.
  • Each client's systems and data are kept apart from every other client's.
  • Code is reviewed and tested before release, and its dependencies are kept patched.
  • If something goes wrong, we tell you without delay and say what we are doing about it.

Common questions

Where does a project start?

Usually with a review of your sales channels, systems and data. You get a costed, phased plan and decide whether to go on. If you already know the one piece of work you need, we scope that on its own.

How much does a review cost?

From £2,000. The smallest review takes two days. A larger business, more complex systems or a deeper review take longer, and we give you the cost before we start.

How much do builds and integrations cost?

We scope each one on request. They range from a few thousand pounds for a single integration to over £100,000 for a large programme. A regional trip planner is usually over £20,000, and a full booking integration well over £50,000. Each phase has its own scope and cost, agreed before it starts, so you commit to one phase at a time.

Do we keep our own team?

Yes. We work alongside your team, and when a system is built we can hand it over to them with its documentation.

Who owns the code and the data?

You get the documentation every time we hand a system over. The code comes with it where the project allows it, and we agree that at the start. We also agree at the start how your data is returned or deleted when the work ends.

Can you take over a system another supplier built?

Yes. We take it over, then host, monitor and fix it.

Are you certified to ISO 27001?

Not yet. We follow its controls where they apply to a team our size, and we agree how personal data is handled under UK and EU GDPR at the start of each project.
